How On Fire Fits

A catalog for filling out a schedule.

On Fire Learning is a self-paced online curriculum partner whose catalog reaches well beyond standard core academics — creative electives, life skills, and credit recovery courses that round out a scholar’s education.

It is rarely the primary path. Most VCA Virtual scholars take their core academics through Great Hearts Online Classical or Wisconsin Virtual School and use On Fire to add a specific elective, fill a credit gap, or pursue an interest the core catalog doesn’t cover.

Every On Fire course routes through VCA Virtual: Dean-reviewed for credit toward your scholar’s diploma, supported by the same Faith Coach and Academic Coach as every other pathway, and eligible under all four Wisconsin Choice Programs.

What’s in the Catalog

Four broad course families.

On Fire Learning publishes course bundles across four areas. Our Dean of Instruction reviews placement and which combinations of On Fire and other pathways will earn full graduation credit.

Family I

Core Academics

Self-paced courses covering English, math, science, history, and social studies across grade bands. Useful as a credit-recovery option or as part of a custom load alongside Great Hearts or WVS.

Family II

Creative Electives

Visual art, music, creative writing, photography, design, and other elective subjects that round out a scholar’s schedule beyond the core. Real depth, not filler.

Family III

Life Skills

Practical short courses on personal finance, household management, communication, and the kinds of skills every adult needs — the curriculum schools used to teach and don’t anymore.

Family IV

Credit Recovery

Targeted high-school credit-recovery options for students making up a course or working ahead. Reviewed and approved by VCA Virtual’s Dean of Instruction before they count toward your transcript.

A pathway, not a separate school.

On Fire Learning courses run inside VCA Virtual — same enrollment, same coaches, same diploma. Just a different academic source for the courses you select.

Same VCA Diploma

Coursework completed through On Fire Learning is reviewed by our Dean of Instruction and credited toward your VCA Virtual diploma.

Same Two Coaches

Every On Fire family receives the same Academic Coach and Faith Coach as every other VCA Virtual family. Self-paced doesn’t mean unsupported.

Same Choice Eligibility

If your family is eligible for MPCP, WPCP, RPCP, or SNSP, that funding follows your scholar into the On Fire pathway through VCA Virtual.
