Singulis suo modo. To each in his own way.
For students with IEPs, 504 plans, foundational gaps, or twice-exceptional profiles. SNSP-eligible. Dean-led, ILP-driven. The full Christian formation, paced for the student we have, not the student a textbook expects.
Most VCA Virtual families are well served by the standard pathways. But some students need something different — not because they are less capable, but because they learn differently.
The Learning Support track exists for these students. It is the same pathway you may have heard called Individualized Curriculum — case-by-case, Dean-led, with a written Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for each student. Many of our Learning Support students qualify for Wisconsin's Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP), which has higher per-pupil funding and no income limit.
Learning Support is by referral and review. Each candidate is evaluated individually by the Dean of Instruction.
IEPs, 504 plans, or diagnosed conditions that require curriculum adaptation beyond standard accommodations. Many of these students qualify for SNSP.
Skill levels two or more grade levels below their enrollment year in a core subject. Often the result of a previous-school environment that didn't fit.
Advanced ability in some areas paired with substantial support needs in others. The classical curriculum often serves these students remarkably well.
Students returning to school after medical, family, or traumatic circumstances that interrupted their learning. We meet them where they are.
Learning Support placement is never automatic. It is a deliberate, transparent process with the family from the first conversation through quarterly review.
You share your student's story, existing documentation (IEP, 504, prior school records, evaluations), and the questions your family is bringing to VCA Virtual.
The Dean of Instruction reviews records, administers diagnostic assessments, and determines whether Learning Support is the right fit — or whether another pathway will serve the student better.
The Dean authors an Individualized Learning Plan with concrete goals, milestones, curriculum, and support rhythms. You review it before placement is finalized.
Every quarter we walk through growth data, celebrate progress, and adjust the ILP. Course corrections are built in.
Wisconsin's Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP) is designed for exactly the students Learning Support serves. The voucher amount is higher than the standard WPCP/RPCP amount. There is no income limit. Eligibility requires only that the student have an IEP or services plan from a Wisconsin public school.
For families whose students qualify, SNSP covers the full cost of Learning Support at VCA Virtual. Tuition is $0, guaranteed — Wisconsin DPI pays VCA directly on a quarterly schedule. Small incidental fees may apply across a school year, but never enough to keep your Scholar from attending.
Our enrollment team helps families verify SNSP eligibility, complete the DPI Online Parent Application application, and coordinate every required document. The administrative burden is real but manageable — we walk every family through it.
“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”Isaiah 40:11 · KJV
Every Learning Support family begins with a conversation. Tell us your student's story; we'll set up the initial review with the Dean of Instruction.
